Hehe, I love the beat Gorgo! but I'm into these kind of beats anyways/ not a big fan of the straight 4/4. If you want to get some more variation on the drums just focus on the cymbals/hats. For the cymbals, every so often let them follow/support the kick only, only for 1 or 2 bars and back again. Take away some of the hat hits every now and again too. But that's just a suggestion, it's good the way it is, I'm just nit-picking lol.

This puts me in a right frame of mind. It's very relaxing/ intriguing...
I love the way it just keeps on developing/ Interested to hear the final.

Thanks for your kind words,

I will keep you posted on when the final or near final version is out.
I have no due date for this project but I should have plenty of time this week and next to possibly allocate to this song.

Enjoy!

Ryu Xero - Spiritual

Awesome_love the sounds/effects you used. I think you could easily add some more towards the end, or make it slightly longer & then even go more hectic on the drums/beat as the song reaches it's climax. great stuff!

Not_bad so far/ I think you shouldnt worry too much about mastering at this stage, focus on the music 1st and leave the rest for the very end. The drums/bass are very "background" at the moment / supporting the main piano/melody, I think add some variation to the piano, perhaps even another part/key change?

z-bentinel responds:

Hey thanks. Yeah I started writing another piano part and a key change part, but i was suffering some horrible composers block at the time and everything I made sounded shit and the song started to become less of a fun song and more of a piece of work to be finished. The song I'm working on now is going to feature dual guitars and will hopefully be way more interesting =).

New Psychology

It's raining here now, and it never rains here lol. I'm listening to this and it just fits the mood I'm in so perfectly. It's very simple and beautifull, I also like the taps they are spontaneous/percussion that give the song so much depth.

You could always do a final layer/overdub of just percussive tapping that intensifies as the song progresses, find a key/note that's in tune with the whole song, open tune the guitar to that key and tap away, that way it doesnt feel too contrived, just tapping for tapping's sake lol. Kaki King does that a lot on her studio albums, and it works so well as a background percussive effect. Another cool overdub effect is tying a silk tie around your wrist ( the one you pick with )
and ever so gently let it touch/graze the strings as you move your wrist whilst playing & since you also use your fingers for picking, this gives some interesting muted/overdub effects.

Hey man thanks for the review, yeah theres a few now that start to like the tapping, and thanks for the tips i'll look it up.

Who Knows?

Nice_has a dreamy feeling to it, and I love the bass when the melody drops out, since it's a very catchy melody/progression, it's good to have it only now and again and not the whole time.
The one thing that you can do to give it more depth imo would be to focus on the drums, as it gets to the end, have some slight variation on the 4/4, some off beat kick before the snare hit every now and then, and let the clap sound mimic the delay of the synth/keyboard/melody every now and again too, just for variation.
But anyways,
this is good, something about the vibe reminds me of early squarepusher stuff, the breakdowns/buildups really make it interesting, I 'd just focus more on the drums/beat.
Good work man!

I really appreciate it. I hope i can keep making songs that sound this good. But about the drums. I know, Gravey knows, everyone knows i suck nutsack at the drums. i couldn't make a beat to save my life, but give me a guitar and i'll melt your face. oh well. Hey, are you good at Drums? it would be cool if you "fixed" this song for me. I realize you'd be wanting credit, and i would sling a lot your way. (besides i'm eager to work with other people for a change)

Awesome stuff dxm_I can hear the Röyksopp influence. All the parts/attention to detail is great/really takes you on a sound-scaped journey. I'll be checking out more of your stuff!

Chill Rx

yeah, I agree with Vipero_as a background track, you could use this in almost anything to create a specific mood/feel. For me, I picture driving through downtown Jo'burg at night. It's chill, but always wary of what lurks beneath the surface...

Gorgorothx responds:

ha... that's a great analogy. Thanks for the review. Always a pleasure, Tokolos
